Perhaps the greatest psychosis today is the plague that Michael Stone calls “Nature Deficit Disorder.” Humans, especially children, are spending less time outdoors in nature, which has resulted in an epidemic of mental, emotional and behavioral separation issues that are eroding our quality of life and living.

In our disconnected state, we get caught up in repetitive patterns that we created when we were young to cope with emotional, physical and mental traumas. In shamanism we call this ‘soul loss.’ While this strategic behavior was appropriate to protect us from harm at an early age, it becomes dysfunctional as an adult.

This is a pre-publication workshop of Patt’s new book  Awakening from Fear to Freedom: An End of Life Process

Rainbow registerDeath is a sacred act. It is the most important moment in our life. It is also the moment of waking up. Death is inevitable no matter how repressed we make it in our culture. We will all die. How do we prepare now and discover the freedom from the fear of death to live more expanded lives?

After facing my own death a few years ago I learned about the process of dying. I also discovered the process of how death helps us wake up to an expanded life now.  I have learned the importance of community with family and friends as we unravel our fear of death and for meeting our actual death itself.  This is an invitation to you to embrace your own death and for those whom you love.



Together in this workshop we will explore the death process, the perils of medical interference, the kind of caregivers we want to be with us as we die, the legal process and the stages of awakening of how our death helps us be more alive now. I want us to share together how we can be prepared for both a healthy life and a healthy death.

Join me as we create community together in an ongoing experiential workshop.

  • Engage together in exploring as a community how to support each other in facing the fears and challenges of our death.
  • Learn how to awaken and expand more fully in our lives now.
  • Develop your own personal guide for supporting you and your loved ones in the dying process.


  • This workshop will be a progressive deepening process with information, discussion, exercises, reflections, visualizations, and meditations.
  • We also will be working with a new DVD that will accompany the book. Integrating binaural beats and coded color music, the DVD takes us through the various stages of our awakening.

This is an on-going weekly workshop for three months.

We will meet every Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm

Patt Lind-Kyle spoke about her soon to be released “From Fear to Freedom: A Guide for Life and the End of Life” on KVMR 89.5 Radio Conversations with Elisa Parker.

Patt shared perspectives on the fear and denial our culture holds around death.  Patt reflects on the time in our recent history when people were born, lived and died on their own property.  As people moved off the land and humans turned to mortuaries for burials, we lost our day to day familiarity with death. As we pushed death away, death became a painful experience.

From Patt’s research and meditation, she has discovered the concept of the constricted-self.  The constricted-self is a state we develop in this life but not the state we move into at death. In her book Patt has found that an understanding of the process of dying releases the fear of death. The reason to release the fear allows us to live free now.  Her book shows how death is a mental, spiritual and physical experience.

Through exercise, visualizations and meditations, Patt guides us to transform our relationship with death.  Patt’s book is a workbook that is designed to work with families, friends and organizations to serve each other at the time of death. Once we relearn to see that death may be the most important experience in our life, it changes our day to day life.

Patt’s book “From Fear to Freedom: A Guide for Life and the End of Life” will include a DVD of guided meditations to aid individuals and groups through awakening and preparing for death.

In this video, Emmett Miller, MD asks Patt, “what can people learn from this book?” Patt answers:

Heal the Mind, Rewire the Brain is split into 2 parts:

1) the science of the brain

– how the brain works

– how the mind works

– what happens they flow together and what stops the flow

2) the brain and its electrical and chemical components

– the 4 neurochemicals

In Segment 5 of Patt Lind-Kyle’s interview with Dr. Emmett Miller of Healing Times Radio, Patt talks about:

  • What is the brainwave frequency called beta, what is its frequency, what does it do to the mind and what kind of behavior does one have while in beta?
  • How does one reduce fast brain waves to calm the system and move into the brainwave frequency for strategic thinking (at 15 Hz within the beta range)?
  • What happens around 12 Hz with our attention and ability to focus/concentrate?

In the book Heal the Mind, Rewire the Brain, Patt looks at these 3 areas and suggests exercises to manage these brainwave states:

1) Learning to relax the entire body in order to get to know the body and reduce pain
2) Using the CD’s to help learn this process

Dr. Miller asks: How do people know if they are in the meditative state? Patt answers:

  • Meditation is deeper than relaxation
  • Once the body is very quiet and relaxed, then you can notice your breath and sense the rhythm to the breath
  • Then you notice body sensations, visual sensations, thoughts, sounds
  • Then you are in the next level: alpha (an aware state) and you look to see “who’s aware?” by noticing the observer – moving to the bridge from conscious state to meditation state/sub-conscious state
  • This awareness becomes habituated for most people so it is important to learn these techniques
